I believe MEAC Commissioner Dennis Thomas when he says his comments on Bethune-Cookman University and Florida A&M University were misunderstood. To no one’s surprise, the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers are the pre-season favorite to win the SIAC football championship this season. Virginia Union University and Shaw University are the favorites for the 2008 CIAA football crown. They were the champions of the Eastern and Western divisions in 2007, and produced one of the greatest conference championship games in modern history. Claflin University announced today that the NCAA has designated the institution for Division II athletic competition, clearing the way for the Panthers to compete for SIAC championships this fall.
