Homecoming in Season Opener for Lane College's Boykin

Homecoming is coming a couple of weeks early for Lane College head football coach Trent Boykin. The former Kentucky State University assistant coach begins his head coaching career against his former team today in the bluegrass state.

“I will try to control my emotions as best I can,” Boykin said. “It will be exciting to see the players that I coached and recruited play.

“I enjoyed my time there, but I am going back as Lane’s head coach, and we are focused on a win.”

It will be a match-up of a high scoring offense in Lane, who was second in scoring last season at nearly 31 points per game, against a porous defense in Kentucky State, a squad that yielded a conference-worst 35 points per game.

And it should be a sweet debut for Boykins and the Lane Dragons.
