It’s a new feature here on the HBCU Sports Blog, Games of the Week. Every week, we’ll preview the top contests from the four historically black athletic conferences, (MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC) and give you the opportunity to vote on which contest will be the best. The winner will receive a full-fledged post on Monday morning.
Here are the nominees for Week 5.
CIAA – Fayetteville State University vs. Virginia State University – Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, Ettrick, Va. 6:00 p.m. The Trojans pulled out a close win last week against St. Augustine’s to raise their record to 2-2, but they will have a strong test in the Western Division-leading Broncos.
MEAC-Tennessee State University vs. Florida A&M University- Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, Atlanta, Ga. 3:00 p.m. The Florida A&M Rattlers will try to do something three teams in the SWAC could not do – knock off black college football’s best team, the Tennessee State Tigers, in what should be an offensive showdown in the Atlanta Classic.
SIAC/SWAC- Morehouse College vs. Prairie View A&M University – Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, Los Angeles, Ca. 2:30 p.m. (PST) Prairie View A&M has run away with the lead on the SWAC conference, but will they be able to maintain their perfect season against upstart Morehouse in the Angel City Classic?
