Everything about their performance cried out for an end to the MEAC’s streak of ineptitude in the FCS playoffs. The South Carolina State Bulldogs, with their vaunted rushing attack held in check and passing game all but dismantled, were tied with the Appalachian State Mountaineers midway through the fourth quarter of the FCS Playoffs opening [...]

I’ve gotten a few emails over the weekend about the Bayou Classic, most folks asking why I didn’t jump all over it this weekend. Between going to buy a new car and spending a great Thanksgiving with my wife and new baby, my coverage of the Classic was limited with explanation. But I am interested [...]

In case you missed it this morning, Grambling State University basketball was featured on ESPN’s ‘Outside the Lines’ with a report on the death of Tiger player Henry White this past summer.

Very interesting article out of the Advocate on the tenuous saga of the Southern University System Foundation and its management of the Bayou Classic. Tales of misappropriation, unpaid bills and personal vendettas have apparently been playing out against the backdrop of the nation’s signature black college football classic, and may cause significantly bad press for [...]

To the outsider, everything seems to be right with the Morgan State football program. They are far removed from the 20-plus losing seasons, and they don’t appear to be looking back. The Bears have created a nationally-respected defense, and have had some moments in the sun before a national audience. And yet, those closest to [...]

A win over Clark-Atlanta and a HUGE win over Alabama A&M would suggest so. Personally, I have to see a lot more from a team that has gone a combined 8-47 over the last two seasons, but there is room for optimism with the Tigers. Both victories have been come-from-behind affairs, and both games have [...]

One thing I try to do with this blog is to remain objective. Everyone knows I am a proud Morgan State graduate, but the calling of being a media resource for black college athletics supersedes my loyalty to alma mater. Bottom line. So forgive the following breakdown of professional ethics. How. Bout. Them. Bears.
