Savannah State Basketball Owes Georgetown a Debt of Gratitude
The Savannah State University men’s basketball team must win its remaining five games to finish with a .500 record on the season, and its first back-to-back non-losing seasons since 1984 and 1985. Given that two of the next five games are on the road, and that the Tigers are 1-9 away from Savannah this year, it will be an uphill battle.
The Tigers are an improving team, and should they ever be admitted into the MEAC, they will be among the top six teams in the conference. But fans probably don’t realize just how solid the SSU Tigers are, because they rarely come to see them.
Unless, SSU is playing the Georgetown Hoyas.
Through nine home games, the Tigers have attracted 10,658 fans – an average of 1,184 fans per game. SSU’s overall attendance is cushioned by the season-high 3,176 spectators who came to Tiger Arena to watch the Tigers play the Georgetown Hoyas on Nov. 21.

I doubt if we’ll get the Terps to play us in ping pong. That was super embarrassing for their basketball team, but the greatest win in our history (next to the national championship, of course). That’s why they are setting the football game up. Revenge only.
I didn’t realize SSU had a home game against the Hoyas. They played decently as well only loss by 19, and not the typical 40 point thrashing..That is rare that a power conference team would visit a non power conference venue. I wonder if we could ever get the Terps in Hill Field house…????lol
