Former Lane Football Coach Trent Boykin to be Named Head Coach of West Tennessee War Eagles

Former Lane College head football coach Trent Boykin will be announced this afternoon as the new head coach of the West Tennessee War Eagles, a minor league pro football team in the Gridiron Football League.

“I didn’t think I’d get another opportunity to coach so quick,” said Boykin, who was fired from Lane earlier this month. “It’s a blessing how this happened in meeting (War Eagles general manager) Ken (Williams).

“We kept in touch with each other while I was giving him advice about getting things started, then he approached me about being the coach when I had the opportunity to do it.”

Boykin compiled a 4-17 record at Lane in his two-year tenure, and the Dragons did went winless in 2009.
