Mississippi Valley State Has No Recruit Commits on National Signing Day
In what should be a full day of signing day coverage leading up to tonight’s broadcast of HBCU Sports Talk Radio, we begin today’s slate with news out of Mississippi Valley State; news that doesn’t ring of bright days ahead for Delta Devil football.
Courtesy of TSPNSports.com, MVSU released a statement yesterday acknowledging that the school had received zero player commitments on National Signing Day.
Although no players signed letters of intent for the upcoming season, Morgan continues to work with vigilance and hope as he develops his plan for the program.
“While we did not get any players to commit via NLIs (National Letters of Intent), we have had several players verbally commit to joining us in the upcoming season. We are just waiting on the paperwork to be completed and submitted.”
To be clear, National Signing Day is just the first day of a long period in which high school football players can sign with colleges, so MVSU has plenty of time to bring in a strong class of freshmen and transfers. Still, it doesn’t look good when your institution is one of the few in the nation to not have players donning logoed caps and bright smiles for your college.
