North Carolina Central Chancellor Continues to Publicly Champion Internal Audit
We know that North Carolina Central University Chancellor Charlie Nelms is beyond dissatisfied with a leaked internal audit that made headlines with its allegations of larceny and misappropriation.
But does he really have to keep convincing the public of how upset he is and how thorough this investigation will be?
“We will not leave a single stone unturned. We’re going to look at everything, and once we’ve looked at everything, we’re going to share it with you, and we’re going to share it wherever we need to share it, and we’re going to share it with the public,” Nelms said.
Nelms said he plans to finish the investigation as soon as possible.
“We’re not going to let speed get in the way of that. Having said that, our objective is to complete it hopefully in the next three weeks or so,” Nelms said.
Nelms indicated previously that he had hoped to release the audit results earlier this week. It is still unclear exactly when the investigation will be complete and when the audit will be released to the public.
Let’s wait to see what the audit reveals. No need for the blustery accounts of how serious the campus is taking this process, or how committed you are to finding out the truth. Because if the truth turns out to be what was originally leaked, which was initially dismissed by Chancellor Nelms himself, there’s going to be a whole lotta explaining to do.
