Fort Valley State University Breaking Enrollment Records

Fort Valley State University increased its student enrollment from 2009 by 500 students this year, a record-breaking 20 percent spike in growth. New facilities, affordability and a sustainable campus life climate are contributing to the growth, and students and administration are learning how to grow together through the growing pains.

Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment, Terrance Smith, says the school is growing, by leaps and bounds.

He says spring semester has been growing rapidly over the past three years.

Smith, says student enrollment broke records Fall semester, too, which posed specific challenges for the university in keeping up with student growth.

3,680 students enrolled for Fall 2009, up from 1,970 three years before.
