Pogue Presidency Finds Favor with Local Media

Frank Pogue may be the interim president of Grambling State University, but local media has joined the chorus of praise from students and faculty who laud his leadership and vision over his brief tenure. From the Monroe News Star:

Grambling State University has plenty on its immediate “to do” list: shore up flagging enrollment, retain current students, patch up differences with alums and the community, implement entrance standards.

Oh, and pump up campus morale. That’s important too. Remember, at the start of the current academic year GSU’s Faculty Senate was entertaining a “no-confidence” vote in the last administration; the former president was constructing a wall around his residence. All was not harmonious on the campus.

That’s why the GSU presidential search committee was wise to put its work on hold. Sure, GSU needs a permanent president. But right now they have an interim president who is experienced and knowledgeable. The current view on campus and among search committee members is that Frank Pogue represents a steady hand at the helm, so why rock a boat that’s just escaped choppy seas?
