Savannah State Students Prepare to Welcome President Obama
Savannah State University students are gearing up to welcome President Barack Obama to Savannah tomorrow.
The students at this historically black university said President Obama’s election has gotten more young people interested in politics.
“Since he got there it’s showing that you can achieve anything you want. It’s only your mind that’s stopping you from going to the top. So it’s like he broke the glass ceiling,“ said Lamond Chad Mignott, parliamentarian for the SSU College Democrats.
With all of the partisan politics in Washington, they said they want to show Mr. Obama they’re excited he is coming to the Coastal Empire.
“Savannah’s a highly political city in Georgia, so we kind of said, ‘Hey… let’s show him that we still do support him. We’re still in for the long run,‘“ said Hurell.
Here’s hoping that while students express well-warranted support for the President, that if given the opportunity, they should express their concerns about budget cuts and their impact on higher education in the state.
