Study Lauds Southern as Essential Part of Baton Rouge Business Development

A study commissioned in large part by the Louisiana Economic Development Department reveals that business development in Baton Rouge will largely rely on the involvement of Southern University’s Center for Entrepreneurial and Leadership Development. The study, which revealed a new business innovation strategy for the region, calls for the center to have a richer community presence that can translate into increased minority entrepreneurship.

But the study led by New Economy Strategies LLC drills deep and encourages the inclusion of Southern University. For example, the consultants call for Southern’s Center for Entrepreneurial and Leadership Development to expand training at the high school, community college and university levels about how to start a business. Southern’s center is well-positioned to remove barriers for growth-oriented entrepreneurs who are from minority or disadvantaged backgrounds.
