CSC, UMES Pioneer Next Generation of Air Traffic Control Training
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is the latest HBCU to partner with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) to bolster minority interest and participation in aviation, as the university will receive state-of-the-art air traffic control simulators for its Engineering and Aviation Sciences program. From the release:
NexSim(TM) Radar and Tower air traffic control simulation training systems to support the initial training and development of next generation Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) air traffic controllers.
CSC will expand its support for university aviation training programs by providing a total of 12 NexSim(TM) Radar and two NexSim(TM) Tower simulators to Miami Dade College, Miami, Fla.; Eastern New Mexico University, Portales, N.M.; University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Princess Anne, Md.; and Oklahoma University, Norman, Okla. CSC’s NexSim technology simulates real operational environments found in today’s busiest terminal and en-route radar facilities.
UMES joins Elizabeth City State University as the only two HBCUs partnering with CSC.
