Langston Named Top NAIA Black College Athletic Program

Langston University finished as the top HBCU in the NAIA’s Learfield Sports Director’s Cup competition. The Lions, who captured conference titles in football and men’s and women’s track and field, outpaced Xavier University of Louisiana for the top HBCU program in the nation, and 52nd overall in the Cup standings. From the release:

Athletic Director Patric Simon, in his third year at Langston, praised his staff and the student-athletes for their role in the university’s achievement. He said he believed this would also lead the institution to make even greater strides in the future.

“I would hope that it would be a strong tool,” Simon said. “For us, it’s a tremendous accomplishment.”
