North Carolina Central Launches COVID-19 Testing Initiative for Lumbee Indigenous American Community

NCCU is partnering with the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina and The University of North Carolina at Pembroke to implement the program, which was funded by a $1.8 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. The project is aimed at reducing rates of COVID exposure in Native Americans, who are 3.5 times more likely than Caucasians to contract the disease and 5.8 times more likely to be hospitalized. Howard Unveils PSA Encouraging COVID-19 Vaccination

Officials at Howard University have produced a public service announcement (PSA) on encouraging the importance of getting the coronavirus vaccine. Howard President Wayne A.I. Frederick was among the first to get a vaccine shot at Howard University Hospital, and he hopes his message will encourage others to do the same.

Jarvis Christian Receives $2 Million Tech Infrastructure Investment from IBM

Structured Finance Fund Establishes Endowed Scholarship at UDC

The Structured Finance Foundation, an affiliate of the Structured Finance Association (SFA), today announced it has established a fund to provide scholarships to eligible students attending the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate finance, accounting, or economics degree in the School of Business and Public Administration. The Structured Finance Foundation scholarship will be established with a gift of $80,000, with the first scholarship to be awarded for the Fall 2021 semester. Tuskegee Receives $5 Million Gift

Tuskegee University has received a $5 million gift from the charitable foundation established by philanthropist Stephen Feinberg. Mr. Feinberg is the co‐founder and co‐chief executive officer of Cerberus Capital Management, a global private equity firm with investment assets across complementary credit, private equity, and real estate platforms.
